3. Michael Lorenzen

It pains me to say this since he was our big deadline acquisition, but I don’t want Lorenzen anywhere near our postseason roster.

I don’t care that he was an All-Star in Detroit or that he threw a no-hitter in August — he’s been a complete disaster lately. In 9 appearances (7 starts) with Philly, he has a 5.89 ERA, a 6.06 FIP and a 1.47 WHIP.

All his peripherals are trending in the wrong direction, too. His strikeout rate is down, his walk rate is up, and he’s allowing way too many homers.

His recent move to the bullpen hasn’t helped much, either, as he got blown up in his first relief outing and only recorded 1 out.

Unfortunately for Lorenzen, he’s out of time. We can’t afford to let him figure things out in the playoffs. We need guys we can trust in high-leverage situations, and right now I wouldn’t want Lorenzen in the game even with a 10-run lead.

The trade seemed like a good idea at the time, but it just hasn’t worked out. Better to cut our losses now rather than have Lorenzen blow a playoff game. The stakes are just too high.

The stakes are also high for sports bettors, but fortunately you don’t have to sweat too much at BetMGM Sportsbook. With just a $10 bet, you can earn a $200 bonus when you register for a new account. That bonus is guaranteed, too, regardless of whether your bet wins or loses, as long as you sign up through our exclusive Section 215 link. Unlock the offer and claim your $200 now before it expires!
