The Philadelphia Eagles are currently gearing up for a battle against the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa enters this contest undefeated as well, so Philadelphia must make sure to maximize its gameday roster or risk its first loss of the year.

As the Eagles hope to move to 3-0, here are the five most likely players to be inactive for Monday Night Football.

Projecting Eagles Week 3 Inactives vs. Buccaneers

1. Boston Scott

Boston Scott’s Week 3 status seems pretty murky right now. The veteran running back was forced to leave the team’s Thursday night win due to concussion concerns, and he’s currently in protocols to begin preparation for the Buccaneers game.

Recovery from head injuries is notoriously different for each player. Some players can clear protocols in a week or less and suit up the following game, while others may be sidelined a stretch of time. A few, like teammate D’Andre Swift, even have extended symptoms that can derail a season.

Given the seriousness of an injury like this, Scott should be given all the time he needs. I trust Philly’s coaching staff to do just that and not rush him back for Monday night.

The Eagles’ run game appears to be in great hands, anyways, after Swift’s breakout performance. Even if Scott and Kenneth Gainwell — who has a rib injury — can’t go, Rashaad Penny would then be called upon to step up. The team also just added to its RB depth on the practice squad, giving Nick Sirianni another option if needs it.
