5. Terrell Edmunds

It seemed like Terrell Edmunds was ready to start across from Reed Blankenship when he was signed, but he lost the battle for that spot to Justin Evans in the preseason.

Then Blankenship went down and Edmunds got his chance.

He did absolutely nothing to suggest he should be getting more run in the Philly defense.

Edmunds played 91% of the Eagles’ defensive snaps in Week 2, and while he did get in on six tackles, it’s not like he was making special plays or tackles in the backfield. It was largely a case of making the tackles you’re supposed to make.

He did also have a missed tackle, and gave up 3 receptions for 33 yards on the 4 targets he faced in coverage.

Edmunds is trying to prove that he deserves to get reps even when Blankenship is healthy, and he’s not done that so far. If he keeps this up he may even fall to the fourth safety spot as rookie Sydney Brown gets more time to develop.
