3. STUD: Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis breakout season is officially here.

Davis showed flashes in Week 1, but I’m officially ready to lock him in as a stud, and I expect to do so a lot more often as the season goes on.

First of all, he had my absolute favorite play of the game.

This is the kind of play he made in college, and it’s the reason we drafted him. He’s 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds, but not your average 6-6 340. There are plenty of guys who can clog gaps with that kind of size. But Davis’ raw power is something to marvel at.

And he went above and beyond this week. It wasn’t just gumming up the running lanes and overpowering interior linemen.

He showed great quickness and some developed moves as a pass-rusher, which suddenly makes things very tough on opposing offenses. If Davis can continue being a plus pass-rusher who can be on the field for any down, gameplanning against the Eagles defensive front becomes a lot more difficult.

He’s certainly still better against the run than the pass, and it’s easily where he’s most studly. But showing off that well-rounded development is what lands him on the list this week.

Now the next big test is what he’ll do against a healthy offensive line. Both the Patriots last week and Vikings this week were banged up on the front line. I can’t wait to see how Davis rises to the occasion in a tougher matchup.
