The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0, but you wouldn’t know it from the attitude of Philly fans. Nobody is feeling excited about the way we’ve won those games, and for good reason. For a team that’s supposed to be a Super Bowl favorite, we’ve made games against weak opponents look far more difficult than they should have been.

It’s too early to hit the panic button, and you can’t be that unhappy about being 2-0. You certainly won’t find any sympathetic ears for any of your complaints among fans of other teams.

But sometimes you just wanna get it off your chest. You want to worry. You want to overreact. And within every overreaction is a little nugget of truth — something that is absolutely worth worrying about.

Here are my overreactions, including the nuggets of truth that you really should be worried about.

Eagles vs. Vikings Week 2 Overreactions

1. Start Marcus Mariota

The Jalen Hurts experiment is over. He had a good run. Can’t be too upset getting an MVP-level season and one Super Bowl appearance out of a second-round pick.

But he’s clearly washed.

You and I could have hit DeVonta Smith on that 63-yard touchdown. And without that play, which Hurts should get no credit for? Just 130 yards on 22 pass attempts. Woof. That would’ve made back-to-back games with less than 6.0 yards per pass attempt.

Even in the awful Atlanta Falcons offense, Marcus Mariota averaged 7.4 passing yards per attempt in 2022. How much worse than Hurts could he really be?

Okay, maybe it’s not time to replace Hurts, but we seriously need him to figure it out. A down game against the Patriots was excusable — that’s a great defense with a great coach.

But you’d really like to see him do better against the Vikings defense than Baker Mayfield did…
