4. Is the Backfield as Deep as We Think?

Speaking of injuries, Kenny Gainwell has been ruled out already after playing a shockingly large role in Week 1.

While this backfield looked like a surefire committee before the year, Gainwell dominated the available work and racked up 20 touches, while RB2 D’Andre Swift only saw 4.

Gainwell’s absence means we should get a look at the whole committee now.

Swift presumably steps into the RB1 role, Rashaad Penny will suit up for the first time after being a healthy scratch in Week 1, and Boston Scott will shuffle in while also playing his usual role on special teams.

Duties will likely be more evenly distributed this week, and we’ll see just how good this backfield is.

All three guys will have chances to make their mark, and despite the surprising breakdown of the Week 1 workload, there’s absolutely room for any one of them to force offensive coordinator Brian Johnson to get them more involved.

Swift in particular has a real chance to take over Gainwell’s RB1 role with an impressive showing here.

The Eagles expected to be able to replace Miles Sanders with a committee, and now’s the opportunity to prove that it was a smart idea.
