The Eagles came away with a win in Week 1, but nobody in Philadelphia felt great about it. That game was way closer than it had any business being, and it did more to cause concern than it did excitement.

You hope for Week 1 to bring a lot of exciting answers to questions you’ve been pondering all offseason, but that’s not what we got.

Instead, Eagles fans were met with more questions than ever, and the team needs to answer these four in particular on Thursday night.

4 Burning Eagles Questions for Thursday Night Football Week 2

1. Has Sean Desai Figured it Out?

Giving up 316 yards and 3 touchdowns to Mac Jones is pretty much unacceptable. This defense has way too much talent to make that stat line make any sense, especially against a Patriots offense that is lacking dangerous receiving weapons.

New defensive coordinator Sean Desai gets a lot of the blame for those struggles.

He’s going to really be put to the test tonight, but the season is not long enough for the Eagles to put up with many more bad games whether there are good excuses or not.

Short week? Tough. Missing Reed Blankenship? Tough. Kirk Cousins threw for almost 350 yards in Week 1? Stop him anyway.

That might not feel fair for a guy who has only just started his defensive coordinator career, but that’s the reality of the NFL.

And frankly, it’s still not like this is an unfavorable spot for him. This is arguably the most talented defense in the NFL. When you have Haason Reddick, Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox and Jalen Carter, nobody is going to be interested in a sob story.

Will Desai be able to figure things out on a short week? For his sake, he better.
