JuJu Smith-Schuster talked a ton of smack about the Eagles’ secondary after his Super Bowl 57 win with the Kansas City Chiefs, and none of it was warranted. He did not get the best of the Philly secondary, and that made his trash talk all the more frustrating.

But JuJu clearly knows that he doesn’t actually have the Eagles’ number, because he’s really walked back that trash talk ahead of a Week 1 rematch with his new team.

It makes sense that JuJu is silent now that he might actually have to back up his words. After all, was his Super Bowl performance even something to brag about?

It took him 9 targets to rack up 53 yards. The only other player in the game to see 9 targets was DeVonta Smith, who turned his into nearly twice as many yards (100). In fact, JuJu was easily the least efficient receiver among the five players who saw 5-plus targets in that game.

He drew one crucial penalty, and really had nothing else to hang his hat on. Congrats, I guess.

Let’s see how JuJu fares against James Bradberry, Darius Slay and Avonte Maddox this time.

Smith-Schuster always comes across as immature, and being willing to talk smack on Twitter only to dial it back once you’re going to see the person you’re bashing in person? That’s weak even by his standards.

Heck, it’s not even all that bad if he wants to talk. I mean, if anyone gets that it’s Philly fans. But if you’re going to do that, at least own it. Keep talking ahead of the next matchup. Keep talking once you see those defenders in person before the game. Keep talking during the game. Try to back it up.

This approach is just so weak, and it really screams a lack of confidence.

Of course, there’s some good reason for JuJu to lack confidence when he’s about to get shut down in a likely blowout.
