The Philadelphia Eagles are now just single digits away from opening the 2023 NFL season against the New England Patriots. The Philly faithful can’t wait to see how the Birds kickstart the new campaign now that it’s nearly been seven months since the unfortunate Super Bowl loss.

The fanbase now has a better idea of who’ll be donning Eagles threads this fall following this week’s 53-man roster deadline. While some Philadelphia fanatics weren’t sad to see some players go, other moves left folks wondering if general manager Howie Roseman made the right decision.

Even though it’s still a bit too early to tell if the Eagles messed up by cutting certain players, some decisions might be regretted shortly.

Here are three players the Eagles will regret leaving off the 53-man roster.

3 Players Eagles Will Regret Cutting

1. K’Von Wallace, S

K’Von Wallace is one player that many Eagles fans saw making the roster this year. After all, he was a fourth-round pick out of Clemson in 2020 and has played 45 games (seven starts) over the last three seasons.

Despite any offseason hype he had, it all went away with an underwhelming preseason performance. Even if Wallace didn’t live up to his potential in August, that doesn’t mean Philadelphia won’t regret cutting him.

For starters, he’s gotten better with every season under his belt, finishing the 2022 campaign with career highs in total tackles (28), solo tackles (21), and defended passes (two). He was also a consistent special teams contributor, playing 71% of snaps.

While Wallace’s Pro Football Focus grade of 58.4 wasn’t ideal, he’s still trending in the right direction after being graded 51.7 and 56.1 in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Do I think Wallace is an everyday starting safety? No, but he’s proven to be a reliable name that can be plugged into the lineup whenever needed. Even if the safety room is as strong as it’s ever been, he’s the type of second-stringer that comes in handy when injuries pile up as the season goes on.

What stings even more is that he was claimed by the Arizona Cardinals, reuniting him with ex-Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon. Hopefully, for Roseman’s sake, Wallace doesn’t ball out in the desert.
