3. He Sees the Big Picture

This one may sound simple, but Roseman has a clear vision and an eye for building winning teams, whereas a lot of GMs don’t.

Some sacrifice the present and enter multi-year rebuilding projects with the faint hope of light at the end of the tunnel. Others go all in on the present but completely screw themselves over for the future. And some just spin their wheels, failing to improve in either timeframe.

Roseman, to his credit, has done a good job of balancing the future and present. It would have been easy for him to double down after the team won it all in 2018, but he wisely didn’t overpay to keep Nick Foles around and was ready to move on from Carson Wentz when the time came.

Similarly, Roseman stayed the course after the Eagles fell agonizingly short in Super Bowl LVII. Rather than try to add even more to his team, he knows it’s already good enough to compete for a championship again in 2023. He hasn’t overcommitted or overextended us like the Rams and Buccaneers did, maintaining a sense of flexibility and enabling us to compete year after year.

It’s not always easy to see the big picture in the NFL when you’re focused on winning a game every Sunday and trying to win a championship every year, but Roseman’s managed to keep everything in perspective.
