3. Blake Griffin

Griffin is another player who’s still available, so there’s still time for Philly to sign him. He seems likely to return to Boston, however, after clearly enjoying his time there last year.

Bringing in Griffin wouldn’t have been a splashy move, but it would’ve been a nice depth addition nevertheless. His size and rebounding could’ve been used in the frontcourt, especially given Embiid’s injury history. He’s still a solid role player at this stage of his career and is happy to defer to more talented teammates.

Perhaps more importantly, though, Griffin would’ve added a lift to the locker room. His veteran presence, leadership and positive attitude would have been a breath of fresh air for a team that is lacking all of those things right now.

Coming from the Celtics, Griffin might have been able to share some intel on one of our top rivals, too.

Griffin would’ve come cheap, and chances are his impact will far outweigh his salary when you factor in his intangibles. He’s not going to win you a championship, but he’s a great glue guy to have around.
