It’s one of those nights in Philadelphia. The Phillies got the early jump on the Giants, taking the lead in the second inning and keeping their foot on the gas ever since.

After Edmundo Sosa and Alec Bohm both went yard on Monday, Bryce Harper decided to get in on the action, but in a very special way: by flying around the bases for an inside-the-park home run.

Harper skied one to left-centerfield in the bottom of the fifth inning, looking like he’d be the third Phillie to hit one past the wall against the Giants. Instead, it bounced off of the State Farm ad and rolled away from San Francisco’s Wade Meckler for several seconds.

That gave Harper more than enough time to turn on the jets as he rounded second base. Third base coach Dusty Wathan decided to wave him home while Meckler fumbled the ball in the outfield, and the former NL MVP slid to the plate for the easy score.

Just for good measure, Harper gave a subtle, Michael Jordan-esque shrug as he popped up off the ground.

Harper may have gotten some home-field cooking with this being scored a legit inside-the-park HR instead of a triple and an error, but who cares! It would’ve been close regardless, and Harper didn’t even go full-speed into home because he knew he was safe.

This just continues what’s been a great month for the seven-time All-Star. Heading into Monday night, Harper had slashed .302/.392/.603 throughout August, recording 4 home runs and 9 RBI.

The former NLCS MVP rounding into form with the postseason right around the corner is just what Phillies fans wanted to see following his quiet start to the season. Monday’s inside-the-parker should give him even more positive momentum to close the 2023 campaign on a high note.
