You don’t end up with one of the most loaded rosters in the NFL by accident, but it does certainly take some great drafting, top-end player development and yes, a bit of luck.

It’s simply too hard to fill out all of the spots on an NFL roster with talented players while also staying under the salary cap. Stars are commanding bigger and bigger contracts, but at the same time roster depth is more important than ever with the 17-game regular season.

That’s why these five Eagles and their team-friendly contracts are so vital to keeping us in Super Bowl contention again in 2023.

5 Biggest Eagles Salary Cap Bargains in 2023

1. Haason Reddick

Edge rushers may not get quarterback-level contracts, but the stars at the position are still some of the most highly-paid players in the NFL. There are three of them making at least $25 million a year and eight making at least $20 million a year.

Then there’s Haason Reddick, tied for 19th at the position with an AAV (average annual value) on his contract of $15 million.

Reddick’s value goes beyond being a pure edge rusher, too. He was already an above-average off-ball linebacker who really came into his own when also working on the edge in 2022. He saw his sack total jump from 11.0 to 16.0 and finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Reddick is one of the most valuable defenders in the NFL, and Philly can enjoy at least one more season of getting him at a total bargain before needing to worry about the premium it will cost to extend him ahead of his final year under contract in 2024.
