2. Deon Cain

The Eagles took another chance on wide receiver Deon Cain after his successful run in the USFL this past year, but those results simply haven’t translated to this level.

After not playing in the team’s first preseason game, Cain got several chances to make plays on Thursday. Despite being targeted three times, though, the former sixth-round pick went without a reception against the Browns. He only has himself to blame for this after posting several drops on catchable balls.

Other than causing a turnover, the worst way for a wideout to make an impression is by dropping the ball. That’s especially the case for someone on the roster bubble who is fighting to prove they’re worthy of a roster spot.

You’d hope Cain would do everything possible to make sure he came up with the few targets that went his way, but that simply didn’t come to fruition on Thursday.

It’s disappointing since Philadelphia is looking for someone to break out and solidify its WR depth outside of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith at the top. Unfortunately, Cain doesn’t look up to the task.
