3 Remaining Free Agents That Need to Be on the 76ers’ Radar
3. Danny Green
Danny Green is one player that 76ers fans are more than familiar with. The three-time NBA Champion spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons in Philadelphia, averaging 7.8 points and 2.1 three-pointers on 39.5% shooting over 131 games (97 starts).
If Green does return to the City of Brotherly Love, expectations must be tempered. He’s two years older since Philly fans last saw him and that’s without mentioning that he tore an ACL in his last game donning a Sixers jersey.
Still, the North Babylon, NY native showed that he can still be a threat last campaign. He only played 11 games between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies, tallying an average of 1.5 threes on 3.4 attempts (43.2%).
Green’s days as a starter are likely long gone, but that doesn’t mean he can’t come off the bench to give the 76ers some life during scoring slumps. Even if he’s only playing 10-15 minutes per game, that’s enough of an opportunity for his defense and three-point shooting to make an impact.
Furthermore, Green would have an easy time transitioning to the 76ers’ locker room, having played with eight members of the current roster the last time he was in town. On top of that, he played under head coach Nick Nurse during the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 championship run.
Even if it’s mainly to be an off-court presence to help the young players, I love the idea of Green donning a 76ers jersey one more time.
