Here’s the Phillies’ Potential 2023 Playoff Schedule

The Phillies are currently entrenched in a fierce NL Wild Card race that will rage on over the final two months of the season. As summer winds down and fall approaches, though, fans are already looking forward to another round of playoff baseball.

The recent release of MLB’s 2023 postseason schedule has only added to the hype. It also provides Philadelphia a good idea of how a potential playoff trip will go, should the club return this year.

Phillies 2023 MLB Playoffs Schedule

The Wild Card Round, which expanded this year to include an extra team, will take place from Aug. 3-5 for both the NL and AL.

As of Aug. 9, the Phillies currently own one of the Wild Card spots. Their 62-52 record is actually tied for the best among National League WC contenders with the Giants, though San Francisco has the head-to-head tiebreaker (3-0) right now after sweeping Philly in May. These clubs will meet again for another three-game series from Aug. 21-23.

Despite these teams being the frontrunners, they’ll face stiff competition down the stretch. The Cubs and Marlins are in their own tie for the final Wild Card spot in the NL, and they have the Reds and Diamondbacks hot on their tails. The talented Padres could always make a run down the stretch as well.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Round of the 2023 playoffs does the NL a favor by lasting one day longer than the AL. Since the NLDS takes place from Oct. 7-14 instead of ending on the 13th, pitching staffs will be afforded an extra rest day. This could allow those at the top of the rotation to return quicker for a full start, or even pitch in an inning or two near the end of a series.

The NLCS follows from Oct. 16-24, and the World Series is scheduled for Oct. 27-Nov. 4. Right now, oddsmakers are a little hesitant about Philadlephia’s chances of contending. They’re tied for only the eighth-best odds to win the World Series on DraftKings, as the Braves (+330) and Dodgers (+450) spearhead the NL’s contenders. Philadelphia is the next-best club from the National League, however, so that shows some belief in this squad’s talent.
