Heading into the year as one of the Super Bowl favorites, every stage of the season is important to the Eagles. That includes the very start of it with training camp, as guys try to carve out roles and claim a coveted roster spot on this contender.

The NFL increasing camp limits to 90 players means there’s a ton of people on the field looking to make an impression. In the early going, though, there’s already a few who are standing out.

With that in mind, here are three Eagles players lighting it up in training camp.

Eagles Training Camp Standouts 2023

1. Jalen Hurts

Let’s just start with the most important man of all. Jalen Hurts doesn’t make this list just because he’s QB1; he’s earned this recognition because he’s been the talk of camp thus far.

By all accounts, it sounds like Hurts has found another gear as a passer after making major strides in 2022. Beat reporters have remarked at Hurts’ ball placement and ability to complete difficult throws throughout camp. Making his play even more impressive is the fact he’s gone without an interception so far, which is rare for quarterbacks at this time as they’re shaking off rust and developing chemistry.

The word is Philadelphia’s using Hurts in a variety of ways in camp, having him frequently make throws outside of the pocket. This experiment’s going swimmingly, and that should make fans extremely excited, since it utilizes the QB’s legs without being as dangerous as him running with the ball himself.

Even better, Hurts has come into the year with Mamba-like hunger. He’s not resting on his laurels after an MVP-worthy campaign and Super Bowl appearance.

He’s letting the past die and laser-focused on the now, which is exactly the kind of mindset this squad needs from its leader to ensure an even better 2023 season.
