Happy Eagles training camp day, Philly fans!

After a long offseason, training camp practices are finally here, and we’re all thirsty for any football action we can get. Even a slow drip of highlights from practices is going to hit the spot. But of course, training camp isn’t all positivity.

With intense position battles and players facing being cut, the tough reality of training camp is that the roster has to get a lot smaller very quickly. And with so many cuts looming, Eagles insider Eliot Shorr-Parks has highlighted his full list of 32 players on Philadelphia’s roster bubble.

Eagles Roster Bubble

This list is a total mixed bag. Plenty of these guys are pretty obvious cut candidates that fans may have not even known were on the roster — true examples of being a “training camp body.” But some are a little more surprising.

Greg Ward, for example, has felt like a mainstay on this roster since his 2020 emergence, but the fan favorite is coming off a missed season and facing more competition at the wide receiver spot than ever before.

K’Von Wallace looked like a draft steal early in his career after earning significant playing time as a fourth-round rookie, but his development totally plateaued. And like the wide receiver spot, Philly has improved its secondary by a massive amount since Wallace first showed up.

Speaking of the secondary, Greedy Williams is an interesting name to have on the list. The 2019 second-round pick was the kind of free-agent signing fans love — thinking that our squad might get a steal and turn around the career of a guy who once showed enough potential to be a coveted draft pick. But the contract he signed (one year, only $600K guaranteed) was never a good omen for his long-term prospects in Philly. Shorr-Parks doesn’t even have Williams as one of the most likely bubble guys to make the final 53.

Of course, having talented and promising players on the roster bubble is ultimately a good thing. It’s a sign of how incredibly deep this Eagles roster is and of how much progress has been made in the last few years since a lot of these guys were first able to make their marks.

That level of talent is why I’m eyeing the Over on the 11.5 wins that Vegas has set as the over/under for Philly this season.
