Section 215’s Best Philly Betting Picks for 7/25 (Bet on Phillies to Rebound)
By Tyler Maher
The Phillies are back in action tonight after a tough loss to the Orioles yesterday, and they’re not the only NL East team to keep an eye on either. That should help keep sports bettors busy along with the start of Eagles training camp today.
Here are our top Philly sports betting picks for Tuesday.
Best Philadelphia Betting Picks: July 25
Tyler Maher: Phillies Moneyline vs Orioles
The Phillies dropped a nailbiter in their series opener against the Orioles yesterday, falling 3-2 despite another gem from Cristopher Sanchez. They’re in a good spot to bounce back today, though, with Taijuan Walker on the mound.
Walker leads the majors in wins (11) and owns a solid 4.11 ERA in 20 starts this year. Philadelphia is 14-6 in his starts his season, including a remarkable 7-1 over his last eight.
Baltimore is rolling the dice with Kyle Gibson again even though he’s allowed the most hits (124) in the American League. His 4.76 ERA is mediocre, and he’s really been struggling lately with a 7.03 mark over his last six outings.
The Phillies have been in a bit of a slump lately, but they have the pitching edge today and you have to like their chances against Gibson. Take the home team to win this one after losing a hard-fought game yesterday.
Jason Schandl: Mets Runline vs Yankees
Fading the Mets has been one of the most profitable NL East betting strategies all season, but we’ve really got a movable force hitting a stoppable object here in New York tonight.
The Yanks have been one of MLB’s other biggest disappointments on the season, and that’s especially been true in July where they rank 23rd in batting average, 20th in on-base percentage and 21st in slugging.
Their pitching staff has also been underperforming all year, and Domingo German takes the mound in the midst of a 2023 season that has seen his ERA jump to 4.52 after finishing last year with a career-best 3.61.
The Mets’ offense has been stagnant as well, but Justin Verlander still has enough gas to give them the obvious edge in this matchup. It never feels good to back the Mets, but cashing in for doing it certainly makes it an easier pill to swallow.
