3. Week 13 vs. San Francisco 49ers
How’s this for a brutal stretch of the schedule? After playing two potential Super Bowl previews in Weeks 11 and 12, the Eagles draw a potential NFC Championship preview against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13. The Eagles and Niners are the two favorites to win the NFC this year.
If the Eagles want the chance to take on someone like the Bills or the Chiefs in the postseason, they’ll likely have to go through the 49ers, so it’s important to have a strong showing here — especially with the advantage of playing this one at home.
Late in the season these two side will likely be near the top of the NFC standings as well, making a win doubly important for locking up some potential home-field advantage and possibly even a first-round bye down the line.
We’ll also know a lot more about the 49ers at this point in the season. Whether it’s a healthy Brock Purdy proving he’s the real deal or Trey Lance showing why he was such a promising prospect, if the Niners are clicking in Week 13 it’s going to be with a lot of questions answered.
By Week 13 we’ll also probably see both teams battling injuries too, and late-season wins can be a really strong indicator of how well a team’s depth is able to step up as needed down the stretch — something that becomes especially important when the playoffs arrive.
