The Super Bowl hangover for teams who came out losers in the big game is a phenomenon that has to be haunting Eagles fans right now. Twice in the last four years we’ve seen the Super Bowl loser miss the postseason the following year.

Of course, despite this, the Eagles still own the NFL’s second-best odds to win the Super Bowl next season, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

The goal though, of course, is not just to avoid missing the playoffs. The goal is to rebound and this time win the Super Bowl. And getting there will have to start with a strong regular season.

Every win counts, of course, but not all wins are created equal. And these are three games the Eagles need to win if they’re going to improve on last season’s finish and finally hoist the Lombardi Trophy again.

Eagles’ Biggest Must-Win Games

1. Week 4 vs. Washington Commanders

This is the only NFC East matchup I’m going to highlight, and that’s because we tend to see weird things happen in divisional games. The chance we have a full 6-0 sweep of the NFC are pretty slim, and it’s not the end of the world if we go 5-1 or 4-2 in those.

But our first one is also the easiest, getting our home game against Washington, and that isn’t something we can afford to lose.

Washington is a distant fourth in the odds to win the NFC East this season, while the Cowboys are a real threat to both win the division and even, if oddsmakers are to be believed, to win the entire NFC.

So with some significantly tougher divisional tests ahead, Philly can’t afford to stumble out of the gate within the division. Washington should be an absolute pushover, and you can’t afford to lose the gimmes on your schedule if you want to earn a 1-seed.
