The Philadelphia Phillies have advanced to the National League Championship Series for the first time since they fell to the San Francisco Giants in 2010.

The Fightins have found themselves in the midst of a Cinderella story of sorts as a strong postseason run has brought them from the lowly third Wild Card all the way to within one series away from the World Series.

A strong outing in the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves has only compounded the confidence this team feels. Philadelphia has also received some good news as they announced the roster for the NLCS as a recently injured player would be returning to the team.

David Robertson returns as the Philadelphia Phillies prepare for the NLCS.
Robertson missed the entirety of the NLDS after sustaining a calf injury while celebrating a Bryce Harper home run against the St. Louis Cardinals in the opening round of the playoffs. Now that Robertson has had a chance to heal, he is ready to return, and just in time, as the Phillies are set to face their most difficult opponent yet.

San Diego possesses an impressive amount of star power led by Manny Machado and deadline acquisition Juan Soto. Outfielder Trent Grisham has also been a revelation this postseason and is a big reason why the team was able to win three straight against the LA Dodgers and advance to the NLCS.

While the Phillies’ bullpen played a major role in the team advancing to the NLCS, there can be no doubt that the team feels more comfortable knowing they can rely on Robertson should the need arise.

Aside from Robertson, the only other change on the Philadelphia Phillies’ roster from the NLDS is Nick Nelson. The 26-year-old pitcher was left off to make room for Robertson.
