Philadelphia Phillies: 3 players who have earned a postseason roster spot

3) The Philadelphia Phillies should carry Darick Hall as a pinch-hitting weapon
Maybe it’s a love affair with Matt Stairs from 2008 which has me convinced Darick Hall could do something big for the Philadelphia Phillies in this year’s playoffs. An unnecessary piece to the roster in the regular season, he could have a use in the playoffs as a bat to come off the bench.
Hall showed a ton of power during his time with the team earlier while Bryce Harper was injured. Having him sitting around and waiting for an opportunity to face a right-handed pitcher would be the only way to use him. He could be someone to pinch hit for Matt Vierling whenever he starts in center field.
Brandon Marsh would be the natural player to pinch run for Hall thereafter and take over in center field. Of course, if Hall hit a home run, there won’t be a pinch runner necessary.
In the playoffs, especially in the earliest rounds, teams don’t need to carry as many pitchers. This year’s Wild Card round will only need three starting pitchers. This could give Philadelphia extra roster spots to use on a player like Hall.
The Philadelphia Phillies are fortunate that there aren’t a whole lot of players Hall could logically be a better option to replace in the lineup. Vierling makes sense and maybe even Marsh would too if a home run is what the team needs.
