It wasn’t the prettiest game to watch, but a win is a win, and the Philadelphia Eagles are starting their season 1-0. The first game of the season is rarely an indication of how a season will go, but that doesn’t stop the media or masses from raising a few eyebrows at the team’s performance in Detroit.

With all of the hype this Eagles roster was receiving in the off-season, it’s hard to believe this game was only decided by three points. These Dan Campbell Lions are a tough, resilient, and improving team, but the discrepancy in talent should have been enough to give Philadelphia a comfortable victory.

It wouldn’t be a Philadelphia Eagles football game without a few question marks, overreactions and observations. If this week taught us anything, it’s that this 2022 season will be an interesting one.

1. A.J Brown is as good as advertised

Of all the big moves that Howie Roseman made this off-season, the biggest, without a doubt, was the acquisition of A.J Brown on the first night of the NFL Draft. It was a move that brought tons of excitement to the fan base and was a clear signal that this team is looking to win right now. It’s safe to say the impact of the trade has already been felt.

Brown was unbelievable against Detroit, and the chemistry between him and Hurts is legit. Hurts targeted Brown 13 times (44% of his 29 passing attempts), and Brown answered to the heavy workload in a big way hauling in 10 of those targets for a whopping 155 yards.

He may not have found the end-zone in his first game in midnight green, but quite a few of his spectacular plays helped the Eagles to their four touchdowns on the ground.

He gave Hurts more confidence to throw the 50/50 ball and between the hashes, something he didn’t do a lot of last season. It may only be one game, but it was a debut for the ages, and if his first game is any indication, he’s going to be an important part of this team’s success.
