2) Philadelphia Phillies fans shouldn’t have faith because of the sometimes sleepy offense

As potent as the offense can be, it has not lived up to expectations. In fact, it has been a disappointing year from the standpoint of scoring runs.

The Phillies are a team of sluggers with only Bryce Harper and Jean Segura capable of hitting anywhere near .300. Alec Bohm has had a surprisingly productive season at the plate while giving them a much different approach than swinging for the fences.

What’s frustrating about the Phillies is how limited Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos have been. Schwarber is a home run hitter but not much else. Castellanos has been far more average than anything else.

Philadelphia is a team capable of scoring double-digits or going away silently without a fight. That’s the case for most teams. However, with the Phillies, there is a general feeling they are more prone to get shutout against a good pitcher than to put a hurting on him.

This issue might stem back to how they were built. Too many players are here to hit home runs. The one-trick pony Phillies with power and very little defensive ability don’t feel like a World Series winner. Those teams win games by stealing runs with their gloves, not launching baseballs into the upper deck.
