The Philadelphia Eagles made a few moves involving their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday morning. Among the moves were the release of quarterback Reid Sinnett and running back La’Mical Perine.

In their place, the Eagles have signed tight end Dalton Keene and wide receiver Auden Tate to Practice Squad deals. Keene is a former third-round pick of the New England Patriots during the 2020 NFL draft. Despite trading up to acquire the young tight end, the Patriots waived Keene after just two seasons as he dealt with knee injuries in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Tate, meanwhile, was one of the final selections in the 2018 draft (253rd overall) but worked his way into the Bengals’ receiving corp, particularly during the 2019 season. While what he displayed was not enough to keep him in Cincinnati, it was certainly enough to make him an interesting player.

The Philadelphia Eagles have added an intriguing player in Auden Tate.

During the 2019 season, Auden Tate finished with 575 receiving yards in 12 games with what was left of Andy Dalton as his quarterback. In the years to follow, Tate would find himself buried on the depth chart as the Bengals continued to acquire more and more receiver talent through the draft, including Tee Higgins and, of course, Jamarr Chase.

Between the two young studs and Tyler Boyd, there was very little room for Tate to make any real noise for himself. There is no such guarantee for Tate in Philadelphia either, but alongside other Practice Squad wideouts such as Devon Allen, Britain Covey, and Deon Cain, there is a chance that he finds himself elevated at some point during the season.

Tate hasn’t been able to put it all together as of yet, but it’s not hard to be on his size, athleticism, and promise moving forward. The Philadelphia Eagles may have just stolen someone for their Practice Squad.
