2. Tay Gowan

Though Tay Gowan and Kary Vincent Jr. came to Philadelphia in very similar ways, with Howie Roseman trading for the rookie cornerback in the middle of the 2021 season, their on-field style couldn’t be any more different.

Unlike Vincent, who is a small, speedy corner who should really be used in the slot, Gowan is a traditional outside cornerback who has great size at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, and the 4.44 speed needed to become a true press cornerback in a Cover 3 scheme. While he isn’t the most fluid athlete around and thus may never be able to become a true man cornerback, Gowan has all of the tools to become a very good player if he can put it all together.

The problem? Gowan hasn’t quite put it all together and he’s running out of time to prove his potential is worth a spot on the 53-man roster.

Overtaken on the depth chart by Josh Jobe, Gowan has largely been tasked with competing with other bubble roster players on opposing teams instead of testing his mettle against top reserves of the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns. If he can figure it out and put some good film on tap, maybe, just maybe, Gowan can stick around on the active roster. If not, well, hopefully, he can sneak through waivers and land on the practice squad.
