3. Deon Cain should make the team

Deon Cain has had quite the journey to get to South Philadelphia. After being a five-star recruit coming out of high school,  he committed to national powerhouse Clemson. Despite his pedigree, he had a college career filled with inconsistencies, which, when paired with a suspension in the College Football Playoffs, dropped his stock significantly and he was ultimately picked in the sixth round by Indianapolis in 2018.

He was overall unimpressive with the Colts and has bounced around the league since his time in Indy, making pit stops in Pittsburgh and Baltimore, before landing with the Eagles, who are his fourth team in five years.

After a 2021 season spent on the practice squad, Cain started shining in camp this June. A few reports praised him for his production and work ethic throughout training camp and it has really shown up in the preseason.

While he didn’t get much action in the first game (one reception for 14 yards), he blew up against Cleveland; catching five passes for 66 yards, including a highlight reel worthy catch on a back shoulder throw from Gardner Minshew.

Signs are pointing to him sticking in the City of Brotherly Love. His measurables (6-foot-2, 203 pounds and a 4.43 40 yard dash), when coupled with his connection to head coach Nick Sirianni and a wide open WR5 battle has opened the door for Cain to steal a spot on this roster.
