1. Marlon Tuipulotu

The Eagles are known for deploying a deep rotation of defensive linemen. Keeping their big fellas in the trenches healthy and fresh is paramount. Most years, the Eagles will keep nine or even ten defensive linemen, and one would imagine this year’s roster will be no different.

With the SAM position acting as a de facto edge rusher, it wouldn’t be surprising to see The Birds go heavy at defensive tackle as opposed to defensive end. While the top four DTs are pretty much set in stone, if Howie Roseman opts to carry a fifth, the spot is very much up for grabs. That is where second-year man Marlon Tuipulotu can fit into the fold.

Tuipulotu, a 2021 sixth-round draft pick, has reportedly made great strides from Year 1 to Year 2, standing out in one-on-one drills and during 11 on 11’s according to Tim McManus. He has the size to play the 1T or 0, with a strong, stout frame capable of being effectively planted in the middle of the defensive line to shut down running lanes.

His main competition for that fifth tackle spot will likely be 2022 UDFA Noah Ellis. Roseman hates giving up on draft picks though, so Tuipulotu may have the inside track based on the team’s investment.
