3. Britain Covey

Britain Covey was a dynamic slot receiver and return man during his time at Utah. In his five years playing for the Utes he amassed 184 receptions for over 2,000 yards and took 11 trips to the end zone. The human Swiss Army Knife also chipped in another 300 yards on the ground throughout his career; bringing his totals up to 2,311 yards from scrimmage.

Where Covey really shined during his time in college was in the return game. The diminutive return man packed a big punch. He averaged just about 12 yards per punt return, taking four to the house. He also fielded 33 kickoffs, averaging 25.4 yards per return and adding another touchdown.

The Eagles’ special teams woes are far from a secret; they’ve been near the bottom of the league in that department for over half of a decade. Year after year, they try to find someone with juice in the return game, only to be terribly disappointed.

All reports indicate that Covey has been nothing short of brilliant out of the slot in training camp, receiving first-team reps at receiver and punt returner per Mike Kaye. Could he potentially steal the fifth receiver spot and be the return specialist that Philadelphia has sought for so long? He sure seems to have an inside track.
