The Eagles would consider trading Dillard, but only for the right price

While trading Dillard for Hunt would be a mistake, this isn’t to say that the Eagles wouldn’t be interested in dealing the young tackle in a general sense. The rumors of a Dillard deal have been around so long for a reason. Philadelphia even fielded calls around Dillard for the past few months, including right before and during the 2022 NFL Draft, yet, Dillard remains. Why is that? Because Philadelphia understands the value, a young, talented swing tackle provides to a team.

There’s no pleasure in thinking of this, but the Philadelphia Eagles have seen enough injuries over the years to understand that there’s not much, if anything, anyone can do to control that aspect of the game. The thought of Jordan Mailata or Lane Johnson succumbing to injury is difficult to stomach, but the team must be prepared regardless. If not, then they will have no one to blame, but themselves should that dark day come.

Yes, the team is extremely deep when it comes to their O-Line. From Jack Driscoll to Jack Anderson, Le’Raven Clark, and rookie Cam Jeurgens, there is undoubtedly talent on this Eagles O-Line bench. No player on that bench, however, is as talented, especially at such a crucial position, as Andre Dillard.

It’s not just about Dillard’s underrated value, though. There’s also the consideration that the Eagles frankly don’t need Hunt, especially not to trade for him. If last season proved anything for the Philadelphia Eagles, it’s that anyone can run behind this offensive line.
