The NFC East has changed a ton since the end of the 2021 NFL season.

Quarterbacks have been acquired, new coaches have been hired, and Pro Bowl-caliber wide receivers have been traded for and away by teams looking for the right balance of talent and financial compensation.

While the position grouping isn’t the lone decider of an offense’s success, having a premier wide receiving corps can help to decide the fate of a game and, by extension, a spot in the playoffs in a consistently competitive division like the NFC East.

So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at the wide receiving corps across the division to see how the Philadelphia Eagles stack up against their peers.

4. New York Giants

Surprised? Well, you probably shouldn’t be; the New York Giants have been pretty consistently bad at wide receiver since they traded away Odell Beckham Jr., and after using their second-round pick on Wan’Dale Robinson in the 2022 NFL Draft – a fun player many expected to go about 50 picks later – it’s hard to imagine the Giants taking a massive step forward this fall, even with the addition of ex-Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll as their new head coach.

Now granted, the Giants aren’t as hopeless at wide receiver as some may think; Darius Slayton, Kenny Golladay, and Kadarius Toney all struggled in 2021 and could theoretically take a step forward this fall, but even still, is the ceiling of that unit top-10, top-15, or even top-20? Probably not, especially if Daniel Jones is still the player throwing them the ball.

Top Receiver – Sterling Shepard

Despite having a “down” year compared to his former production, Sterling Shepard still finished out 2021 with the best yards-per-game average on the Giants last season at 52.3 and would have finished out the year with 889 yards had he appeared in all 17 games with the same average. If he can stay healthy, expect Shepard to have a bounceback season in 2022, especially with Daboll calling the offense.
