Realistically, the Philadelphia Eagles are probably set in the way of big-time free agents.

Widely dubbed the big winners of the offseason by more than a few football fans after rounding out their roster with the addition of James Bradberry, the Eagles look primed to roll into the summer with the players they already have under contract, save a veteran addition or two on minimum contracts.

… or Roseman could place a big old cherry on top of his signature offseason and try to secure one more game-changer to fill the final hole on his roster.

Fortunately, there is a big-time safety by the name of Jessie Bates III who fully fits that bill and reportedly has no intentions to play under the franchise tag with the Cincinnati Bengals. And fortunately for the Philadelphia Eagles, one of his former teammates took to Twitter to low-key lobby for a reunion.

If Renell Wren can help land JB3, he’ll be a Philadelphia Eagles legend.

Eyes are the windows to the soul, but what about the eyes emoji? Without another word, what do they mean?

Well, when you consider the smoke linking Jessie Bates III to the Philadelphia Eagles,  Renell Wren‘s use of the emoji is very interesting indeed.

See what I mean?

So why would Wren reach out to former Cincinnati Bengals teammates on Twitter, when one would assume they certainly have each other’s phone numbers? Maybe he just forgot? Maybe it was a single oversight?

Or maybe, just maybe, the current Eagles’ defensive tackle wanted to make a loud statement for the world to see in order to build momentum towards a potential deal.

Yeah, I’m going to go with the latter.

Despite not having the financial space to accommodate Bates’ $12.9 million franchise tag cap hit, Roseman could theoretically trade some of his expansive treasure trove of assets, say the 2024 second round pick acquired from the New Orleans Saints, for the ex-Wake Forrest safety should he agree for a long-term extension, even one worth as much as $75 million, according to Spotrac.

Considering Spotrac only has the Birds with a little over $5 million in available cap space, securing Bates’ services remains a bit of a longshot, but with some more cap ingenuity, it’s weirdly still possible, especially for a general manager who has no problem writing contracts with void years as much as a half-decade into the future.

Next. Get ready for some serious Jessie Bates III rumors. dark

Who knows, maybe Renell Wren simply tweeted out that, um, tweet as a form of support for his former teammate and presumably good friend. Maybe he, too, had seen the rumors and just wanted some clarifications on the matter. Or maybe Wren is doing the Philadelphia Eagles a solid in the hopes of bringing one of the best safeties in the NFL to the City of Brotherly Love. Yeah, I’m going to go with the latter, thank you very much.
