Philadelphia Eagles: 5 players with the most to lose in 2022
When he’s on, Miles Sanders is one of the most exciting players in the NFL. He can cut on a dime like Shady McCoy, catch passes within five yards of the line of scrimmage like a slot receiver, and turn into a punt returner in the open field, with the sort of big play-ability that makes him a threat to score anytime he touches the ball.
And yet, as inconvenient as it may sound, the Eagles’ rushing attack was actually more potent at times in 2021 with Sanders on the bench than on the field, as getting a consistent four yards per rush from a player like Jordan Howard provided more value than a one yard rush, then a -3 yard rush, and then a two yard rush before Sanders rips off a 16 yard play to even out his average.
If Sanders is going to remain an occupant of the Keystone State indefinitely, he’ll need to find a way to become more consistent offensively and match his sky-high ceiling with a higher floor. If not? Well, Sanders will certainly earn an opportunity elsewhere, as few players can do what he does, even if that isn’t always a good thing.
