813. . Linebacker. Hoosiers . Micah McFadden. 154. player

Howie Roseman doesn’t value linebackers. I’m sorry, fans of Devin Lloyd, I’m sorry, fans of Nakobe Dean, but it’s true; paying Kyzir White is the closest the Philadelphia Eagles are going to get to securing a difference-maker at the second level of their defense.

Fortunately, I think White is very good and might just parlay his one-year contract into a long-term stay in our fair city, but with ten picks to play with, it would be wrong not to select someone at the position, especially with a wealth of solid options available in the middle of Day 3.

My personal favorite of the fifth-round linebackers? Well, that would be Micah McFadden, an athletically-gifted linebacker out of Indiana.

Measuring in at 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, McFadden was a two-year captain with the Hoosiers who ran a 4.59 40 at his pro day and silenced any doubts that he might not be athletic enough to be a utility linebacker as a pro. While he doesn’t have particularly long arms and wasn’t tasked with being an uber coverage guy in college, McFadden was one of the better blitzing linebackers the Big 10 had to offer, amassing 15 sacks over his final two seasons and should be able to be an impactful subpackage specialist/special teams ace as a rookie at the very least.

In the fifth round, that’s good value.
