. Defensive End. RedHawks . Dominique Robinson. 124. player. 2243

For folks who maybe aren’t sold on the idea of Wan’Dale Robinson being the Philadelphia Eagles’ first wide receiver selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, may I interest you in Dominique Robinson?

Measuring in at 6-foot-5, Robinson was a two-star recruit coming out of high school and ultimately signed with Miami (Ohio) after being lightly recruited nationally. While he didn’t do much as a freshman or sophomore, as he never amassed more than 300 yards as a receiver, a position change from the offensive to the defensive side of the ball unlocked his athletic potential and placed him on pro scout radars the league over.

Is Robinson a polished prospect? No. Did he play against the best talent at the other Miami? No. But Robinson did amass 6.5 sacks in 15 games at defensive end and looked pretty darn natural at his new position.

Bulked up to 253 pounds, Robinson ran a 4.72 at the combine and looked surprisingly natural alongside players who have been playing the position all of their lives, even if he quite literally ran out of his shoe in the process.

If Robinson transitioned to defensive end as a freshman, maybe he’d be a Day 2 draft pick, but because he didn’t, questions about his floor could limit his draft ceiling, much to the chagrin of the Philadelphia Eagles, who are pretty well-stocked at defensive end in 2022 but could use some young talent moving forward.
