Philadelphia Eagles: First Round Eve 7-round Mock Draft
And last but not least, with their final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select: Doug Kramer, center, Illinois.
After completely ignoring the offensive line for the first nine picks of this particular mock draft, mostly because Jeff Stoutland is a wizard, I have gifted to the Eagles another Day 3 undersized center from an unconventional school who could excel in a zone-blocking scheme.
Is Kramer the next Jason Kelce? No, probably not, but hey, he’s got a similar athletic profile and could be a nice understudy for the future Hall of Famer.
Coming out of the University of Illinois, Kramer ran a sub-5 40 at his Pro Day – 4.95 to be exact – and exhibited the sort of athletic testing numbers the Eagles have coveted in past Day 3 draftees like Jack Driscoll. While he may be old at 24 and wasn’t elite during his time with the Fighting Illini, Stoutland got away with playing far less athletic performers like Nate Herbig with good effect, so securing a smart, athletically gifted reserve could prove to be a fantastic use of a seventh-round pick, especially if he can bulk up a little bit in the hopes of cross-training at guard.
So what do you think? Could you get over selecting a running back before a wide receiver, or was my mock DOA from pick 51 on? Post your mock draft below!
