The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly really like wide receiver Jameson Williams.

Todd McShay called the Alabama wideout the Eagles’ “preference at No. 15,” and as the draft has inched closer and closer, the hype surrounding the ultra-speedy outside option has only continued to grow, with some, like NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks, suggesting he could be off the board entirely – to the Minnesota Vikings at pick 12 – before Philly even has a chance to phone his name into the Commissioner’s office.

Could that happen? You bet. Similarly, could the Eagles opt to go in a different direction entirely and choose to select a player like Jordan Davis over Williams? That, too, is very possible, as Philly has been linked to the supersized super-athlete out of Georgia for months now. Heck, the team could even trade up, as they reportedly really like Kayvon Thibodeaux and could pursue his services if he falls out of the top-10.

But if Jameson Williams has a say in the matter, the former four-star receiver thinks landing with the Philadelphia Eagles would be fantastic, as his presence in an offense that also features DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Quez Watkins, and Miles Sanders would be like “something nobody has seen before.”

Hey Philadelphia Eagles: Jameson Williams has a point.

Jameson Williams and DeVonta Smith are fast. How fast? Well, because neither ran at the combine, we may never know a definitive number, but when you watch their tape at Alabama, it doesn’t take long to watch the dynamic duo blaze past opposing defenders on their way to the endzone for a quick six points and a rest on the bench.

While some will quibble with the idea of pairing the duo up, as neither is a “prototypical X receiver,” that rationale is sort of bunk, as they get things done in a very different way down the field.

Yes, Smith can play the role of deep threat in a high-end offensive, as he caught more than a few field-flipping passes during his time at Tuscalusa despite sharing the field with Jaylen Waddle and Henry Ruggs III, but what isn’t his ideal fit in an offense. No,  Smith excels as a smooth route runner who can juke would-be cornerbacks out of their cleats and pick apart a defense regardless of coverage.

Williams, by contrast, is a true-blue deep threat but one with enough size to be deployed at the line of scrimmage and still win versus press coverage Robby Anderson-style. He has some of the best burst in this year’s class, the size to be a 50-50 ball specialist in the endzone, and, as crazy as it may sound, good enough route running to be used interchangeably in an offense alongside Smith and Watkins.

Throw in Dallas Goedert and Miles Sanders, who are two of the most dynamic players at their respective positions, and the run-pass threat known locally as QB1 and goodness, the Eagles might just have one of the most explosive offenses in NFL history.

Huh, I guess great minds think alike.

Will Jameson Williams ultimately end up joining DeVonta Smith and Jalen Hurts as a member of

Alabama East

the Philadelphia Eagles? We will find out soon enough; the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft is less than 24 hours away, and as names start to come off the board, the chances of Williams being the pick at 15 will either creep up considerably or be dashed forever. What is undeniable, however, is just how exciting it would be to see the trio take the field this fall, as their potential really would be explosive.
