Philadelphia 76ers: Seth Curry shoots back at Danny Green
Boy, oh boy, talk about a day just chalked full of Philadelphia 76ers news.
It’s 24 hours before James Harden’s debut, the injury report is clean for the first time in what feels like forever, and Bill Simmons offered up some fascinating information about Joel Embiid‘s alleged desire to join forces with Bradley Beal.
If you’re a fan of Philadelphia basketball, the momentum driving into the Sixers’ first game in over a week is at an All-Time high, even if, for some reason, ESPN still has the Timberwolves listed 50-50 favorites for the game.
Sidebar: Joel Embiid and James Harden and heavy favorites over the MINNESOTA Timberwolves? Are you kidding me?
If you feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of new information surrounding current members of the Philadelphia 76ers, I totally get it, but if you have time for one more story about some former members of the team, Seth Curry had some very interesting things to say about his former team, a former teammate, and a current one too.
Seth Curry disputes the claims of a former Philadelphia 76ers teammate.
Seth Curry really didn’t seem like he was happy to be traded away from the Philadelphia 76ers.
He had a home in Philly, was playing for his wife’s father, and had by far the biggest role of his NBA career to that point. Curry formed a fantastic two-man game with Joel Embiid, was given some opportunities to run the point with the ball in his hand, and had a solid selection of plays drawn up just for him by Doc Rivers.
So naturally, when Curry was asked about his feelings regarding the Ben Simmons trade by ESPN, he had a lot to say.
According to Nick Friedell, Curry understands that being traded is just part of the NBA. He doesn’t hold being traded against the Sixers, Daryl Morey, and company, and more polarizing doesn’t feel that Simmons should have to apologize for how he handled his Philadelphia exit either.
Why? Because “business is business.”
Curry also disputed Danny Green’s claims that he didn’t have a cordial relationship with Simmons. Sure, the duo didn’t talk much when Simmons was away from the team, but whenever “Ben 10” returns to the court, all of that will be under the bridge.
But wait, it gets better. Curry actually asserted that Embiid and Simmons didn’t have the best relationship but still played great basketball last season. Granted, as anyone who has kept up with the Sixers over the past few years can tell you, Embiid and Simmons were never friends in the same way as the former was with Jimmy Butler or Nerlens Noel but hey, after months of trying to keep things at least somewhat cordial, the dirty laundry of the last year is slowing coming out.
Between you and me, I really feel for Seth Curry. He clearly loved being a member of the Philadelphia 76ers and likely would have signed an extension with the franchise to close out his career in red, white, and blue if he wasn’t traded first. With that being said, I don’t hold his comments against him and even get coming to Ben Simmons’ defense regardless of his feelings a month ago. Why? Because the duo are teammates, and that isn’t going to change anytime soon, might as well make the best of it.
