The Philadelphia Stars debut their brand new uniforms
Move over the Philadelphia Eagles; there’s a new football team in town that’s about to take the City of Brotherly Love by storm: The Philadelphia Stars of the USFL.
…what, you aren’t familiar with Philly’s new football franchise? Well, allow me to give you a quick crash course; they are coached by long-time non-NFL journeyman Bart Andrus, named after the Philadelphia and then Baltimore Stars of the original USFL, and will officially kick off their season in April, where they will play in a bubble in Birmingham, Alabama.
Intrigued? Or are you more of a “wait to see the league’s inaugural draft”-type, which officially takes place on February 22nd?
Well, if you need a little something extra to pique your interest, you’re in luck, as the Stars just released their 2022 uniforms for the forthcoming season, and in this writer’s humble opinion, they look really cool.
The Philadelphia Stars are coming back in style.
So, without further ado, allow me to present you with the uniforms of the hour.
See what I mean? Those are clean.
Featuring the same colors and basic logo concept of the original Stars of yesteryear, this decade’s iteration of the team’s uniform sports additional Adidas-esque stripes on the pants/jerseys/helmets with the added bonus of holographic numbers.
After spending all three years of their initial run looking like Boston College, these new Stars are firmly taking a page out of Florida State’s look book and arguably have the nicest uniforms of any of the USFL’s eight teams (check the rest of them out here)
Will this go at spring football actually work out, or will the USFL’s run turn out like the AAF and XFL’s of yore? Only time will tell, but if the league can survive their re-maiden voyage – which is being backed by Fox Sports – then I’m sure more than a few Philly fans will come out to a game next spring, even if this will always be the Philadelphia Eagles’ town.
