The Pro Bowl is a weird event.

In the pre-Sunday Ticket world, it was a fun opportunity for fans to catch all of the NFL’s best players in one place, some of whom they might only be able to watch more than once every four years. But now? Now the NFL is trying to “gameify” the weekend like their NBA counterparts, and the results have been truly weird.

Need proof? Just type in “Pro Bowl + two-hand touch” on Twitter and see for yourself.

For the players invited to the event, the Pro Bowl is significant because it can help generate additional income via pre-existing contract bonuses and has the potential to serve as a valuable negotiation tool when their current deal expires. It also gives the players lucky enough to attend a free trip to an exotic destination for a week of fun.

And for some players, namely Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott, a Pro Bowl berth can turn into a bit of a family vacation for himself, his wife, and his two wonderful dogs, Willy + Roxanne.

Willy + Roxanne have joined the Philadelphia Eagles at the Pro Bowl.

Jake Elliott’s 2021 season with the Philadelphia Eagles was something special.

He was perfect on extra pointers, set a new franchise record for field goal percentage with 30 makes on 33 attempts, and all but completely vindicated Howie Roseman’s decision not to bring in training camp competition. While Elliott didn’t initially make the Pro Bowl due to a similarly effective season by Matt Gay, when the Los Angeles Rams made it to the Super Bowl, the pride of Memphis was the obvious alternative to take his spot.

So naturally, when 4’s number got called by the league, he packed up his stuff, called his wife, and organized a cross-country trip from Philadelphia to Las Vegas alongside his dogs Willy and Roxanne for a little early February vacation.

Considering the weather around this part of the country, I certainly can’t blame the Elliott clan for migrating west for a work trip. My dog Barkley loves the snow, but he’s not a fan of ice and is even less into salt getting on his paws, so I doubt he’d be against a vacation to warmer weather either. But for a pair of pups who are used to their dad taking trips around the country for much of the year, getting to tag along must have been just what the Veterinarian ordered for a fun February getaway.

What? You don’t follow Willy and Roxanne on Instagram? Check out their Las Vegas picture here, but *spoiler alert* they’re having a darn blast.

Alright, alright, let’s just for the sake of completion, let’s talk about the game for a moment too. On the field, Elliott’s Pro Bowl experience was largely a success. He played some golf, had some fun, and hit all three of his extra point attempts in the game, which wasn’t enough to get his team the win but certainly didn’t hurt either. But, considering the Pro Bowl is a largely meaningless ordeal, the key takeaway is that Willy and Roxanne Elliott joined Jake, Darius Slay, Javon Hargrave, and Josh Sweat in Las Vegas and that, my friends, is pretty cool.

At this point in the NFL season, any news that isn’t draft-related is going to be menial. A player might hint at their future status, someone might undergo surgery, or there might be yet another trade rumor that may or may not come true in a few weeks. For my virtual currency – which is time – give me dog content every day of the week, especially when it involves the dogs of Philadelphia Eagles players.
