It’s a special thing when a local kid gets drafted by their hometown team.

Vinny Curry grew up a Philadelphia Eagles fan in Orange, Myles Powell and Charlie Brown Jr. both grew up mere miles away from the Philadelphia 76ers’ training facility in Camden, and player-turned-Philadelphia Phillies GM Rubén Amaro Jr. famously grew up just outside of Philadelphia, as The Goldbergs will tell you.

It’s a nice narrative and makes said player’s on-court/field/ice success all the more sweeter, but it can also create some unique situations of player/fandom crossfire that is a whole lot of fun to see.

Case and point, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Shaun Bradley, who, let’s just say, isn’t the biggest fan of Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons.

The Philadelphia Eagles linebacker may not be getting comped Courtside seats anytime soon.

Alright, alright, Alright, stop burying the lead; what did Shaun Bradley say?

Well, it’s not really about what the second-year special teams ace said per se, more so what he opted to share in his Instagram story, which you can check out a screenshot of here if you are so inclined.

If not, let’s just say Bradley thinks Ben Simmons deserves a spot on an All-NBA first team, but the “D” word he chose wasn’t “d-fence.”

Is this post funny? Yes, I quite literally laughed out loud when I saw the post aggregated by Philly Nation. Is it appropriate? Debatable. On one hand, it uses a semi-swearword, which certainly doesn’t fly with some folks and the newly minted AEW wrestler Danhausen, but then again, Instagram stories are temporary, and Bradley is a 24-year-old professional football player who can do whatever he wants.

For Bradley’s sake, let’s hope Simmons does, in fact, opt to stick with his commitment to on-court abstinence, as I would imagine he’d be less than welcomed Courtside rooting for his fellow Philly athlete.

Philadelphia Eagles players have long been a fixture at the Wells Fargo Center. Alshon Jeffrey used to go to games regularly, as was Zach Ertz, and other notable Philadelphians adopted or otherwise, from Rhys Hoskins to Jimmy Rollins, and Mr. “I See Dead People” himself, M. Night Shyamalan. While Shaun Bradley isn’t getting shouted out on TNT when he’s at a game, it’s clear he bleeds red, white, and blue in addition to midnight green and will be one of those fans climbing a greased flagpole if Joel Emiid and company ever win it all like his Philadelphia Eagles did in February of 2018.
