The picks: German Rubtsov (22nd overall) Pascal Laberge (36th), Carter Hart (48th), Wade Allison (52nd), Carsen Twarynski (82nd), Connor Bunnaman (109th), Linus Hogberg (139th), Tanner Laczynski (169th), Anthony Salinitri (172nd), David Bernhardt (199th)

We’ll start with Hart, who remains the key to any kind of success the Flyers might have in the near future. We’ve seen the good and the bad so far, and the team has to keep riding him to see what the end result will be. Selecting him at #48 was a good pick at this moment, and still has the potential to be a great one.

The rest of this draft? Garbage.

Actually, that might be harsh, as this draft year ended up not being that great overall. But Rubtsov was a complete bust, and Laberge never made it because of injuries. That’s nobody’s fault, but we have to grade on results here. Twarynski and Bunnaman are both AHL swingmen, and I’m honestly not convinced that they aren’t the same guy. The last few picks aren’t even worth mentioning.

The remaining glimmer of hope here is Allison, who could possibly turn into a high-energy middle-6 type of winger for the Flyers if he ever gets over his own injury issues. It’s far from a guarantee, of course. And knowing the Flyers, I’m sure it won’t happen.

Grade: B-

This is based entirely on Hart, with Allison having a puncher’s chance of adding something.
