The Philadelphia Eagles have done it; they’ve clinched a postseason berth after the Minnesota Vikings’ loss to the Green Bay Packers. Between the Eagles’ victory over the Washington Football Team, the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and finally the Vikings’ loss to the Packers, it was a good day for the Birds and their fans.

This is a far cry from where many thought the team would be to start the year. After going an uninspiring 4-12 last season, many thought the Eagles were closer to repeating history than a playoff spot. This was especially the case after Philadelphia’s early returns from new head coach Nick Sirianni.

After his initial press conference, Sirianni was written off by the majority of the media (both locally and nationally) and a large portion of the fanbase as well. Many projected the Eagles to repeat at or around four wins, and yet, seemingly against all odds, they have vastly exceeded expectations.

After this week, the Philadelphia Eagles have now made the postseason for an impressive fourth time in the past five seasons.

A large portion of the credit should go to head coach Nick Sirianni as he has spearheaded the Eagles’ turnaround. From stumbling, bumbling, question mark to potential Coach of the Year candidate, Sirianni has seen impressive growth in just his first season.

The Eagles’ Head Coach isn’t the only one who deserves credit, though, as this season has really been a concerted effort. From Howie Roseman’s additions (in the draft at least) to Jalen Hurts, improvements to the stellar leadership of Jason Kelce. Those are just a few of those who deserve credit for this season’s success.

Matchups aren’t set yet as there is still one week of play left, but to go into the final week of the season knowing that the playoffs are a surety is an absolute success. Pair that with the Eagles’ three first-round picks in the upcoming draft, and it’s fair to say this season has gone as well as one can realistically expect, more so even. Just an absolutely fantastic bounceback after the trials last season brought to Philadelphia.
