Philadelphia Eagles First-Round Mock Draft: Week 17 Edition
This season, Rodney McLeod has been an important part of the Eagles’ defense, and Marcus Epps has seemingly taken a leap forward. However, the safety position is still not certain due to McLeod’s age and Epps’ inexperience. The Eagles would be wise to go against their tendencies and invest legitimate draft capital into the safety position.
There will be plenty of safeties to target, but at 23, there is perhaps none better than Penn State’s Jaquan Brisker. Like Booth, Brisker is a strong athlete, leader, and competitor, all qualities the Eagles defense needs both now and going forward.
Brisker is a swiss-army-knife on defense. He defends well in both man and zone coverages, stuffing the run, and he is even impressive as a blitzing pass rusher. Jaquan Brisker can do it all, and that’s perfect for a Philadelphia defense that needs a little bit of everything.
Arguably though, his biggest asset is his cerebral approach to the game. Brisker has an impressive football IQ which allows him to shine in the variety of areas in which he does. Few players are the total package, athletic, driven, intelligent, inspiring; Jaquan Brisker is all of these things and more.
And just in case you needed another reason to be excited about Brisker, according to The Draft Network’s Kyle Crabbs, Briskers’ NFL comparison is Philadelphia Eagles’ great Malcolm Jenkins.
