If the season were to end today, the Philadelphia Eagles would be in the playoffs. It’s an incredible place to be, considering where the Eagles were just over a month ago. What’s even more incredible is the fact that a likely playoff team will have three first-round picks come draft time.

Those three draft picks will be key as the Eagles look to build on what should already be considered a successful season. While the quarterback conversation isn’t officially over, and the team could still stand to add a receiving threat, the focus of the first round should be building a top-shelf defense.

The Eagles’ defense is good but not great, and they are set to lose production either by free agency or due to age. This isn’t just about defense winning championships, but the fact of the matter is that Philadelphia will have holes at every level of the defense, and Howie Roseman’s priority should be to not only patch the defense but add what the team has lacked for some time, difference makers.

Philadelphia Eagles’ General Manager Howie Roseman has three chances to find that difference-maker in the 2022 NFL draft.

It may be a bit more difficult now as both the Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins, both of whom owe their first-round picks to the Eagles, are in the midst of win streaks. The Colts have won six of their last seven while the Dolphins have won seven in a row, meaning their first-round picks are not worth what they once were, but Roseman still has a chance to land an impact player.

With plenty of names rising and falling this time of year, the Eagles’ scouting department must be on their A-game so that they do not squander this opportunity. Maybe Howie Roseman considers trading one or more picks either to move up, down, or for an established player, but a strong argument can be made that the best option for the Eagles is to make all three of their selections, especially with some of the impressive potential in this draft.
