3 positive takeaways from the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 15 win
The Philadelphia Eagles have someone special in Jeff Stoutland.
Boy oh boy, it’s hard not to look at Jeff Stoutland‘s efforts in 2021 and not think he’s one of the best individual position coaches in Philadelphia Eagles history.
Having to deal with a ton of injuries for the second straight season, Stoutland turned an offensive line with only three expected starters and their fourth and fifth guards into a five-man wrecking crew and absolutely dominated a Washington defensive line with many of their starters, including Pro Bowler Jonathan Allen, back from COVID.
Despite having Jalen Hurts running on an injured ankle, the Eagles turned in their fourth 200-yard game in six weeks and led the way for Miles Sanders’ best game as a pro, which is darn impressive, considering the heights of his success under Doug Pederson.
Assuming Landon Dickerson and Andre Dillard are back in time for Week 16, which would be optimal but isn’t guaranteed, the Eagles will be able to ride their run game once more against the New York Giants, and may have to even more, considering Nick Sirianni’s status is very much up in the air for the team’s second-straight division game at the Linc.
When the Philadelphia Eagles opted against retaining Duce Staley heading into 2021, it left many a fan with a bad taste in their mouth. Duce played for the franchise, coached for it under three different head coaches, and looked like a potential head coach waiting in the wings. But do you know what? It’s clear Jeff Stoutland has been the driving force of the Eagles’ run game for years now, as he’s been able to coax a solid rushing attack year after year regardless of who he has in the trenches and who is carrying the rock between them. Sign this man to a lifetime contract, as he’s the best offensive line coach/run game coordinator in the business.
