Speaking of playoffs, Eddie Rosario is a playoff hero the Phillies need to talk to

If you didn’t know the name Eddie Rosario before this year’s playoffs I don’t blame you. He was tucked away with the Minnesota Twins for most of his career. Although never in the spotlight, he was a consistent hitter for them. In 2019, Rosario smashed 32 home runs and drove in 109 while batting .276/.300/.500.

Rosario ended up with the Cleveland Indians at the start of 2021 and landed with the Atlanta Braves at the trade deadline in what might be one of the greatest July trades of all time. In exchange for only Pablo Sandoval, the Braves picked up their NLCS MVP.

Nothing about Rosario’s regular season numbers warrants a huge contract. There’s a lot of hype around him only because of how much he annihilated the Los Angeles Dodgers this past October. In case you weren’t keeping score at home, he went 14 for 25 against the defending champions with 3 home runs and 9 RBI.

A few years younger than Canha and Pham, Rosario is going to get a multi-year deal this winter and requires a little more of a commitment. The Phillies have to really like him to make him their next left fielder. If whatever contract they can give them still leaves room to bolster other positions, Rosario might be exactly what the team needs.
