Tommy Pham feels like a “Philly Guy”

Tommy Pham survived a stabbing. Do I need to say anything else to convince you he is someone to look at as a possible option?

The eight-year veteran has spent time with the St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays, and San Diego Padres. His time in San Diego wasn’t so great but if we consider one of those seasons included the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign and a year in 2021 where the team collapsed, maybe we can excuse the performance a little bit.

Pham is a lot like Canha. He has played all of the outfield positions in recent seasons but left field was where he called home most this past year.

The .229/.340/.383 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI performance he gave the Padres in 2021 isn’t great by any stretch. But just like Canha, he got on base a lot. Pham drew 78 walks—an asset he has been able to deliver throughout his career.

A lifetime .265/.364/.447 hitter, he’s the number seven type hitter with above-average speed Phillies fans could embrace.

For whatever it’s worth, Pham has been beastly in the postseason. In 56 trips to the plate in the playoffs, he’s a .352/.375/.556 hitter with three home runs. Yet to advance beyond the Divisional Series, you have to believe he’ll be looking to land on a team this winter with playoff aspirations.
