Ben Simmons heads North for the winter (and ever after)

The Toronto Raptors remain interested in acquiring Ben Simmons from the Philadelphia 76ers. While his fit next to Pascal Siakam is to be questioned, Simmons is a seamless fit with the rest of the roster.

With names like Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr., and Scottie Barnes, Simmons would be able to once again dominate in the fast break. A player like VanVleet also helps keep the half-court offense active for the Raptors, and the spacing the rest of the team provides would allow Simmons to play however he’d like offensively.

As far as the Sixers are concerned, in Goran Dragic, they land a much-needed point guard replacement who can hold down the fort for now and possibly even be traded once again later in the season to bring in a higher caliber player.

OG Anunoby is the real prize here. The growth he’s seen over his short career is beyond encouraging. He’s blossomed into one of the best defenders in the wing and has improved his three-point shot by leaps and bounds since his rookie year.

Anunoby is the definition of a 3-and-D wing. Taking it one step further, Anunoby is the ideal 3&D wing. Last season, he proved more aggressive than ever and proved that he could handle more responsibility offensively.

He would fit the Philadelphia 76ers (or any team) like a glove and has a chance to continue his growth, perhaps even becoming an All-Star one day.
